Safety of Unmanned Aircraft Systems Facing Multiple Breakdowns

چکیده
This work deals with data analysis issues in an aeronautics context by using a formal framework relying on activity recognition techniques which are applied to the certification and safety analysis processes of Unmanned Aircraft Systems in breakdown situations. In this paper, the behaviour of these systems is modelled, simulated and studied in case of multiple failures using a complex event processing language called chronicles to describe which combinations of events in time may lead to safety breaches, and a c++ chronicle recognition library is used to implement this method. 1998 ACM Subject Classification I.2.4 Knowledge Representation Formalisms and Methods

Designing and Modeling a Control System for Aircraft in the Presence of Wind Disturbance (TECHNICAL NOTE)
This paper proposes a switching adaptive control for trajectory tracking of unmanned aircraft systems. The switching adaptive control method is designed to overcome the wind disturbance and achieve a proper tracking performance for control systems. In the suggested system, the wind disturbance is regarded as a finite set of uncertainties; a controller is designed for each uncertainty, and a per...
متن کاملIn-Trim Flight Investigations of a Conceptual Fluidic Thrust-Vectored Unmanned Tail-Sitter Aircraft
The feasibility of using a stand alone Fluidic Thrust-Vectoring (FTV) system for the purpose of longitudinal trim of an unmanned aerial vehicle is the focus of the research presented in this paper. Since the fluidic thrust vectoring requires high pressure secondary air to deflect the engine exhaust gases, this research also provides an analytical toolset for preliminary sizing of a suitable sec...
متن کاملAn Integrated Safety and Systems Engineering Methodology for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems
This paper presents an integrated methodology for addressing safety concerns during the systems engineering of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS). We describe both the systems and safety engineering activities performed, their interrelations, and how they complement range safety analysis. The broad goal of this work is to support the derivation of an airworthiness statement, and the subsequ...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Regulatory-Based Safety Analysis Framework for Unmanned Aircraft Systems
This paper presents a regulatory-based system-level approach to analyze the safety impact of introducing a new technology, such as unmanned aircraft systems, into the National Airspace System (NAS). The proposed framework applies the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sanctioned safety management system (SMS) principles with a particular focus on safety risk management (SRM) and s...
متن کاملFlight Test Evaluation of an Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) Concept for Multiple Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight Operations
This study evaluates a traffic management concept designed to enable simultaneous operations of multiple small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the U.S. national airspace system (NAS). A five-day flight-test activity is described that examined the feasibility of operating multiple UAS beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) of their respective operators in the same airspace. Over the five-day cam...
